Shrove Tuesday Thoughts

Today as we celebrate Shrove Tuesday, we do so knowing that tomorrow is the beginning of our Lenten Journey. We celebrate tonight with a delightful pancake & sausage supper, and we clean up any of those cookies and treats that won't keep the 40 days. We do this because we know that tomorrow is the beginning of a special journey. It's not a journey to be taken too lightly. It's not just a time to give up chips and cookies. No, Lent is a time to take a personal inventory of our spiritual lives.

It's a good time to look at the ways in which we distance ourselves from God, to look at ways that we can forge that relationship. God desires to have an intimate relationship with us. How or what prevents us from being in that loving relationship fully? You may find that today is not only a good day to eat up those last cookies and have some celebration, but it's also a good time to focus on how you want to spend these next 40 days.

So take some time tonight to enter into that sacred space with God. Allow God to help you in discerning your Lenten Journey. It will be a different journey for all of us, as we all have different areas that we need to focus on.

I will continue talking about Lent and what it's about in the upcoming weeks. For now I wish you a joyous Mardi Gras!

Peace and God Bless
